It may be congested yet it is the best way, 301 may be picked up in Delaware once you cross the bridge and you can take it down below of DC and then into 95

It's probably too late for my reply, but we also try all we can to avoid I-95. Not sure where you're coming from in CT/NY, but if you can get to I-81 in PA, take that all the way to Staunton, VA. Then take I-64 to Route 288, which puts you onto I-95 just below Richmond. You avoid the worst of the congestion that way. If I-95 is still too bad, you can hop onto Route 301 from almost any exit. At Wilson, NC take Route 264 (if you're still on I-95) to I-795. If you're on 301, you can go directly onto I-795 from 301. I-795 turns into Route 117, which takes you to I-40. Head toward Wilmington, then take I-140, following signs for the Battleship NC and MB. This takes you to Route 17, which takes you into SC, Little River, NMB, etc. If you're going to the southern end, Take Route 9 to Route 31 to bypass all the Route 17 congestion. Route 31 ends at Route 544 near Surfside Beach.
