We have rented from "Thomas Century 21" and "Vrbo in the past. We're thinking of trying "Elliot Realty this year, but have read several negatives about them. We do like renting through Vrbo, but our choice seems to be limited booking this late (first week in August) and on a tight budget. I noticed that ALOT of the vrbo' are listed with a realty Co. anyway - not like it used to be. Is it just me or are they all going to a management Company?? I'm also shocked at the prices...for 1 week $1,850 to $2,000 . I know last year for the same unit we only payed around $1,200 for the week.

Who would you go through and why?
Thanks,
Cath

I have used Thomas at least 10 times and have never had a problem. Actually just booked with them today and was shocked that the rates have gone up so much. Usually pay around 1500 but it was over 1800 for 3 bedroom at mar vista for week of July 26.

I'd try Elliot.

Just a suggestion, but if you try Elliott tell them that you are a first time customer in spite of reading negative reviews. Might score you better rates or great customer service. Good luck!

Still trying to figure out where we're staying.. I really don't like waiting this late to plan out, but I know we'll do it and I can't wait to get to the beach.
Laurie - I may try that idea..thanks

We used Elliott a few years ago but hubby and I didn't make the trip our daughter and her family went in our place... they had no problems .. This is our second time with vrbo and the same condo and room from the same person... we don't go until September and our price didn't go up!! We were very pleased with our room last year!!

If you don't mind me asking - where do you stay when you go through Vrbo.

Elliott is a good company, Dick recently passed and his son has taken over, Dick was well know and liked around here, he also had been a Senator.

As for renting from rental companies, know that they get up to 25% which is
why rents are so high.

You can also look at Craigs List MB under rentals.

If your on a budget, look across the street from the ocean and you can save hundreds, look a block away and save almost a grand, also look at Surfside and Garden City Beach for big savings over MB.
