We are going down for the first time ever in mid September. I was just wondering how the weather usually is, it's going to be weird not being in MB in July/August. I'm assuming the crowds are probably almost cut in half as well...anyone shed some light? lol Thanks.

September and October are my favorite months at the beach. It's still warm, but not HOT like it is in August. Schools are back in session and although the water parks may be closed, everything else is still open. No waiting in lines at restaurants!

(...all that is true....as long as we don't get a Sept. hurricane!)

We have rolled the dice and vacationed in September several times, and have always lucked out weatherwise. You will find the trip so enjoyable that you will regret having to ever go back to a July/August visit.

budwash435,

You need to go back and read my trip reports from our last two September trips. Apparently we have terrible luck with it being cold. I know September should not be cold, but our last two trips there were very few people in the ocean and I was huddled under a towel. Last fall the temp didn't get above 76 and the low was 52. With the ocean breeze it was cold. I am a July beach kind of girl

We love Myrtle Beach in September! Nice warm weather without frying your feet on the sand, pools not taken over by kids and very short wait times at restaurants.
We are finally going back in September this year since our youngest graduated high school and we are taking a parents-only vacation :nanner:

We would always go during September. It is my favorite time to hit MB. Once the kids were school age we could only do the summer. In a few years we will be "empty nesters" so we might begin to hit a few Septembers again.

We have been during both September and October and in my opinion, that's the best time to go. My two favorite reasons are pretty much the same as what others have mentioned... 1) Temperature: it's still warm during the day but the humidity is gone so it is very comfortable (or at least every time we have been it has been that way) and evenings are great. 2) There are no wait times at your favorite restaurants.

The way our schedules work out, we don't actually ever get to spend an entire week at the beach during September or October so our week long vacation is always in July with a long weekend trip during the fall, but if we could, we would definitely switch that around and take our full week in September or October. We are actually going the Middle of October this year for a long weekend. This will be only the second time we have been this late in the year but the other time we went, the weather was great, Upper 70's low 80's during the day and low 60's at night.... Hoping for more of the same this year!
