Last time we visited (2006), we ate at Villa Romana, River City Cafe, Nibils, and Southside Grill. Those are the ones I remember the best. Still good?

Not looking for $30+/ plate meals, unless it's something like Villa Romana where out 2 younger fickle eaters can share a plate. Not really looking for buffets either. Though I hear there is a great barbeque buffet place down in Pawley's or Murrell's Inlet?

You can't possibly go wrong with Nacho Hippo. I salivate at the mere mention of it.

Not bad prices unless you go for steak and lobster. Kids menu. Not sure if they still do it or not but kid's meals used to be served on Frisbees.

We try to eat simple and cheap, especially with two kids that are picky eaters. Try Ultimate California Pizza and River City Cafe. Decent food for the price. Also, Yamatos at Broadway at the Beach is a hibachi style restaurant that you get a ton of food. Enough to take home for a meal the second day.

Prosser's BBQ is the one in Murrell's Inlet . It is a great buffet with all kinds of southern dishes from BBQ to fried chicken and seafood, great southern sides like mac and cheese, greens, beans, salads, peach cobbler and banana pudding , and it's very reasonable. I think the lunch buffet is around $10 and that includes ice tea. It was one of our favorite places.

We also like Prosser's. You can get pretty good seafood options there without breaking the bank. It was around $13, which included iced tea. I think its open for lunch daily, but only three or four days a week at night. Another good option is Driftwood. I know one night they have buy one get one half off. I've found the food there to be comparable to some places on the inlet, yet the total bill will be much less.

Ditto River City Cafe and Ultimate Cali Pizza - two of our favorites! We also really like CreekRatz - it doesn't seem expensive either, a great view and good food!

All the restaurants you mentioned in your post question are still here and still good. Except Nibils. They retired and sold the store. It is now a bakery.

Have you been back to Southside grill since it reopened?

We have not, but the neighbors/friends who were regulars there say it's just like it was before they left.

MBKY I posted a review back in March and have returned a few times since. The people could not be friendlier and the food is like homemade. It is usually filled with locals, who are willing to stand at the door waiting for a table to open if necessary.

These are very good suggestions. I have a 3 and 6 year old and some of our favs have been mentioned.

River City Cafe (the one at Barefoot Landing has a small play area while you wait)
Creek Ratz -sit outside for sure!
