My husband and son want to rent jet ski's. Some years ago we rented a jet boat (kids then were too young for ski's) and I think I've found the place we went back then. Has anyone been to "Waterway Powersports" ?

Waterway is a new one that opened by the swing bridge in socastee on the
inter-coastal so have not seen or heard anything positive or negative yet
about them...They are across from river city cafe and another water sports
rental place too.......

I can't say how any of the companies service is, but would figure they are all the same and pricing should be close to each other.

What I can say is if your renting a jetski, do it on the waterway, it is way more fun than in the Inlet or ocean.

I have my own, so I don't rent :)

Gary: since you have your own, have you ever gone to Bucksport ? I did call Waterway Powersports and for a jet rental it's $75 per hour (per person). That seems pretty reasonable to us.

What Gary is REALLY saying is that he's totally open to letting all of us borrow his jet ski...

Cathy, yes I have been to Bucksport and the Marina, Sandy Island and many of the tributaries off the Waterway and River, you could get lost if your not paying attention.

Also $75 is reasonable, as I thought most were $90-$115 an hour.

Phroggy, I don;t let anyone take my ski out due to risk, years ago I let my brother take it out off the beach in Garden City, it was a rough day and as he was coming back in, we noticed he was heading right into a couple, he noticed them at the last minute and instead of giving it the gas and turning he panicked and killed the engine which gave him no control and as the ski went over where the people were, I dropped down to my knees and thoughts of a huge lawsuit went through my mind, fortunately both people noticed the ski and went under water and the ski went right over them, they were shook up but fine.

Gary: I can see why you don't lend them out !! My daughter wants to go jet ski with the guys and that's ok. The only problem is she wants to drive one herself, but my overprotective DH says she has to be a passenger if she wants to go. He doesn't think she has enough weight. Do you know if you have to be over a certain weight? And she is old enough.

I'm pretty sure you need a valid drivers license to be a "driver"

From a personal perspective, I let my daughter drive mine herself at 14, she had to stay within eyesight of us.
