Drone fans - Keep a watch out for this amazing new drone in town! December 3, 2021this Aerial Drone Can Land, Grip and Perch on Branches. The quadrocopter was also able to catch objects tossed by researchers. The quadrocopter dubbed “SNAG” has feet and legs modeled after a peregrine falcon William Roderick via Stanford University
A new drone is taking inspiration from nature’s best flyers: birds. The bio-inspired aerial bot, which was developed by Stanford engineers, combines four sets of propellers on top with a set of bird-like features below, such as grasping claws and bending legs that allow it to land smoothly almost anywhere

Joey is an orphaned sea otter pup that was rescued by the Marine Mammal Rescue Center on July 3, 2020. You can watch his progress now. He's in rehabilitation while he grows up and learns to be a sea otter.

S.C. prisons go high-tech to ground contraband deliveries by drones. Call it the drone war. And South Carolina's prisons are fighting it with state-of-the-art technology. Drones also drop tools used for daring prison breaks. They bring drugs and cell phones to inmates waiting in the creation yards. They can ignight riots from prisoners scrambling to grab special deliveries.

Ft.Sumter, Military drones that are used to find and kill terrorists overseas are being piloted in South Carolina and a permanent headquarters for the operation will be in the works soon. From Scott Krause: Cargo Ship capsizes of the coast of Georgia. The Golden Ray of "Roll on Roll off" cargo shop capsized in the St. Simon Sound in Brunswick, Georiga. She was built in 2017and it is the length of two football fields. Her gross tonnage comes in at a whopping 71,178 tons, and she is carrying 4,000 Hyundai and Kia vehicles that were to arrive in Baltimore. You are likely aware that there are many uses for drones other than video production, but you may be surprised how many and how varied the uses are. And the number is growing fast. In fact, according to the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), optimal integration of drones in the USA will result in the creation of about 100,000 jobs and an effect of $82 billion on the economy by 2025,not all of which will be in the film industry. In light of the OD Pavilion outage, I'll tell you astory that dates backa few years. My neighbor and I drove up to NMB to hear the Shakers...probably the biggest act of the season at the Horseshoe. Early in the season, North Myrtle Beach experienced a lot of flooding. It was decided that the new drains would be an answer to this problem. Throughout speing and summer, residents were forced to avoid that area of the beach due to detours and roadblocks. Finally we thought it was fixed, but then my eighbor and I were told it had been called off due to heavy winds and storms. There were people in kayaks paddling down Main Street! We left the car where we parked it and walked about the area. I took these photos of North Myrtle Beach as it should NOT have looked that night!

I thought y'all might get a kick out of this. I was standing at the first pole you see at Oceanfront Bar & Grill cam. I said to Wally, "I wonder if any of the webcam fans are watching right now?" He says "If they were, they wouldn't know you anyhow!" So he took this photo! Hugs to all y'all cam fans ;-) It is not a web cam, but it is better than some I have seen!

Cities prepare for home delivery by drones.
The Federal Aviation Administration has released new and better flying drones over highly populated areas and at night, effectively laying a welcome mat for future aerial deliveiers and takr-out food, Amazon packages, prescription drugs — you name it.
Why it matters: While the prospect of Jetsons-style convenience with less street gridlock is tantalizing, there are still plenty of logistical hurdles, and it will take some time for cities to figure out how to manage low-altitude air traffic as routinely as they do today's road traffic.
Driving the news: FAA rules — handed down last month — will require drones flying over cities to use remote identification technology, so people on the ground can tell what they're doing and who owns them.
This safety and security system will amount to "a digital license plate for drones, "according to the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, Reuters reports.
"With a single announcement, the Federal Aviation Administration is formally pivoting from approving case-by-case exemptions [for urban drone-flying] to setting broad safety standards.
The new rules replace "stringent protections that currently bar practically all home-delivery options" and will take effect in about two months, the Journal said.
What's happening: Cities like Los Angeles have just started trying to prepare citizens for the change, disruption and unanticipated weirdnesses that the dones delivery will bring.
